Description : They are the primary ancestor of the domestic chicken (Gallus gallus domesticus). They exhibit sexual dimorphism; male jungle fowls are significantly larger than females and have brightly coloured decorative feathers. They typically eat fallen fruits and seeds on the ground; they occasionally forage in trees by perching on branches and feeding on hanging fruit. In addition, red jungle fowl capture a wide variety of arthropods, other invertebrates, and vertebrates such as small lizards. They breed during the dry portion of the year, typically winter or spring.
