
Description : The Lion Tailed Macaque is an old world monkey endemic to Western Ghats of South India. They are characterised with a silver white mane which surrounds the head from the cheeks down to its chin and also called “Beard ape”. They spend most of the time on the top of the trees in rainforest of Western Ghats. They eat foliage, fruits, tree bark, nuts, buds, roots, sprouts, lizards, frogs, eggs and bugs. Lion Tailed Macaques are an endangered species.
